Sports Leaders UK

Sports Leaders UK - Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership

2013-2014

• It is a one year course (2 lessons a week)
• It is an officially recognised qualification which can be used on your CV
• It helps improve leadership skills including communication skills
• It is delivered through theoretical and practical sessions
• You will have the opportunity of taking a HSE recommended First Aid qualification
• You will have the opportunity to work with the PE department to gain experience of coaching
• Assessment  is on a continual basis

If you successfully pass this course you can undertake the Level 3 HSLA (Higher Sports Leaders Award) in Year 13

Course Content

The Community Sports Leader Award syllabus is divided into 8 units, which are as follows:

Unit 01 - Plan, lead and evaluate a sport/activity session.

Unit 02 - Developing leadership skills.

Unit 03 - Lead a session to improve fitness.

Unit 04 - Adapting sports activities.

Unit 05 – Establish and maintain a safe sport/activity session.

Unit 06 - Organise and deliver a sports event or competition.

Unit 07 - Pathways in sport and recreation.

Unit 08 - Demonstration of leadership skills in the community (10 hrs Voluntary work).
