Psychology

Psychology is the study of human behaviour and experience.  This course will introduce you to some of the most popular theories such as Freud’s Psychodynamic theory as well as Behavioursim  and how this applies to violence and aggression. Famous and controversial pieces of research into obedience and addictions are also studied.

Topics such as Forensic Psychology are studied on the GCSE and A Level course, where the varying reasons for committing crime are considered and well as examining how criminals differ in terms of their biology and thinking patterns.

The practical element of the course lends itself to students being able to conduct their own pieces of research, either individually or as part of a group, and this is excellent preparation for the research methods examinations at both GCSE and A Level.
