Dancers win title at artsNK Solidarity 2013

Now in its fourth year, the Solidarity dance project saw seven schools from across the city of Lincoln compete for this year's title.

Organised by artsNK over 10 weeks, the students worked tirelessly in designing and perfecting their routine - and their dedication paid off when they were crowned 2013 champions.

Each school was awarded two individual trophies - most improved dancer mad most improved attitude. These were given to the dancers who over the course of the project had developed and stood out in these two areas.

For The Priory City of Lincoln Academy, these were awarded to:

Most improved dancer - Sian Jamieson
Most improved attitude - Levi McDonald

Performing to Sunchyme by Dario G and with help from artsNK dance instructor Amy O'Sullivan, they produced a high-energy performance to claim the overall title.

Technical ability and choreography was some of the most imaginative and creative the judges had seen since the project start in 2009.

According to one of the judges, "City were fantastic! If the judges could have given you more than one award, they would have!"

The students will now perform at the Lincolnshire School Games' opening ceremony.
