Academy victory in charity Rowathon

The Rising Stars, a team from The Priory City of Lincoln Academy, won the Nomad Trust's 2013 Charity Rowathon, held in the Academy's sports centre. Click here to see our gallery of photos.

The Nomad Trust's annual event - where teams row the 21-mile equivalent of a Channel crossing - raises money in aid of homeless people in Lincoln. It is hoped this year's Rowathon will bring in more than £5,000.

Thirteen teams from across Lincoln trained hard for 12 months in pursuit of the trophy, with The Rising Stars eventually posting the fastest time - one hour 59 minutes - under the captaincy of Mr Liu. Team members were: Tom Potter, Michael Mason, Conner Harley-Beckett, Greg Gavin, Liam Noonan, Jacob Harley-Beckett and Jason Crookes.

The Nomad Trust expressed its thanks to the Academy for hosting the event, which re-enforced the school's commitment to the local community along with its healthy schools policy.

The teams taking part were: Simba Great Plains, Nicholosons Chartered Accountants, Stephenson’s Insurance Services, Homelet, J Wilkins Electrical, St Mary’s Prep Lincoln Minster School, Wright Vigar, North Kesteven School, Duncan and Toplis, Sills and Betteridge, Bridge McFarland, the Cliff Villages Medical Practice and The Priory City of Lincoln Academy Rising Stars.
