U19s sail through to the Netball County Finals

On Wednesday 1st October our U19 Squad played their first games together as a squad in the annual district tournament. We had some players missing due to illness and other training commitments but as ever the squad were confident and determined they would storm through to victory!

They first met Lincoln Minster School and set out an early lead by half time we were winning by 6 goals. With some lovely link up play from Mollie and Izzy the girls continued to score. Gabs Vickers created some great space in centre court and Lucy Porter defended confidently on the edge of the D. The girls eased through to victory winning the game 20-7.

We next came up against Lincoln College, which we knew would be difficult! Evie Cannon one of our ex students and previous captain of our very tight U19 squad was playing for College and even I found it very difficult to see her arrive in different school colours!! However as always the girls battled on, they knew they had a job to do and played some tough netball. With an extremely strong defending partnership from the two Charlottes in the circle and Keelia Judge holding the GA on the edge of the D, our defence made it extremely difficult for their strong GA to shoot. At half time the score was 4-1 to The Priory LSST and unfortunately due to some dispute in the score we had to start the 2nd half 0-0 again. The girls remained strong and drew the next half 3-3 making us overall winners of the game!!

Our final game was against our rivals QEHS, the girls were pumped up but tired, yet seemed to love the game they played!!! Amber Canon kept firing in some amazing feeds to Izzy Standley in the circle. Both Mollie and Izzy kept cool heads to increase the lead. What a lovely game to finish on, it definitely looked like they were having fun on court and it made it easy for me to umpire! Final score 18-3.

A massive congratulations to all the girls who played this evening they were as usual a pleasure to coach and played some stunning netball!!! A thoroughly deserved victory 3 games out of 3!!

Bring on the County Finals on Wednesday 12th November!
