Priory LSST take on LCHS

Year 9 football  v  Lincoln Christ Hospital -the first game of the season saw the team begin in a confident mood and their excellent start was rewarded as early as the fifth minute when Tom Cotton nipped in and scored the opening goal.

Priory LSST continued with the pressure and were quickly rewarded with another goal in the seventh minute from Will Corner

This was turning into a terrific opening period which saw them make many good passes going forwards, without too much long ball  and not to be outdone , the defence seemed to easily manage in stopping LCHS advances with Alex Oliver and George Hyde showing good reading of the game . Trafford Grimes , Alex Oliver , George Hyde and Kai Brown worked well together at the back often playing the ball out rather than long ball.

Sam Bartle , Andy jannsen and Will Corner were continuously looking to cause problems to LCHS defence being well supported in midfield by Tom Cotton,Cam Holmes and Jude Mac who were quick to win the ball and play it through to the front men.

Josh Carey in our goal was called into action and caught the ball well on several occasions before making a good save and turning a LCHS shot onto the bar.

A mix up in defence by LCHS and good touch football by Priory saw another goal on 17 minutes this time by Tom Cotton

LCH then seemed to move up a gear and they were rewarded with a goal when a hesitation in defence allowed their forward to nip in and place the ball past the helpless Josh Carey.

With halftime approaching Priory rallied again and put themselves further ahead with a goal for Andy.

Halftime 4-1 to Priory

Substitue Elliott Caunt came on to replace Trafford Grimes and a shuffle took place in defence whilst still allowing our midfield to win the ball and get it though to our forwards.

This resulted in several more chances for Priory which saw them score 2 more goals  to complete his hatrick  Will Corner.

Another sub saw the hard working Cam Holmes replaced by Callum Mosely who went up front with Andy and Sam dropping back to midfield. Shortly after, George was replaced by Trafford going back into his favoured left back position where again he showed his strength and ability in winning the ball and helping to create further chances. Will scored yet again to make it 7-1 and his 4th goal.

LCHS came again and managed to bridge the Priory defence and when Kai was caught out by a quick move by LCHS he was adjudged to have fouled the forward and gave away a penalty. LCHS netted the spot kick to make it 7-2 giving Josh no chance in goal.

The game finished with the score 7-2 to Priory and with handshakes all round. A solid performance from our team with many very good individual performances.
