Foreign Language Spelling Bee

On Wednesday 29th April four year 7 students – Taha Ahmed, Tanbir Hussain, Charlie Toop and Tom Littlecott – represented the school at the Regional Finals of the Routes into Languages Foreign Language Spelling Bee at Corby Business Academy. They were competing against 93 other students from across the East Midlands out of an original 6,895 students who started the competition back in September 2014.

The standard of competition was extremely high and all students performed very well in their French and German heats. In the German competition, Tanbir entered the play offs for a place in the final four, but was unlucky to be up against formidable opponents. However, Taha won a place in the final play off and stormed to overall victory in the German category with an outstanding performance in front of all the other competitors. Taha will now represent the school at the national finals in Cambridge in July.

Well done to our four regional finalists – they have taken spelling to a whole new level!
